In the article, the author was recommending a meat pie called "Tourtiere" which is a dish that is filled with ground beef, pork, veal or game that is covered in a "lardish dough". Wild game is usually made out of small birds or large native animals such as buffalos, racoon, porcupine, muskrat or ect. Not only are the meat pies popular and favored but they do not have either own classic recipe. This excites many people because they can be creative and switch it up, adding their own special condiments. This dish has been passed down many generations since the 1700s and is still a huge sucess in many businesses in Canada!
My opinion on the meat pies is that they seem really creative and I would love to make my own meat pies using the ingedients that I like. This article suggest that eating a meat pie during the winter on even Christmas day would make your day. I've never been offered or seen a tourtiere before but in Canada is it normal or common to eat a meat pie. Just adapting different cultures is what surprise me the most.
Canada is not that much different from the US, even though they have their different traditions and foods. Learning about Canada's culture and different traditions is very interesting because comparing my everyday agenda to another teenage girl life in Canada could relativel similar or very different. This just shows how Canada celebrates christmas when eating versus eating chicken and waffles like many families in the US.
